The latest from Duncan Fyfe for Remap, investigating the (in)famous moment from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. How did it happen? Find out this and much, MUCH more: https://remapradio.com/articles/call-of-duty-advanced-warfare-paying-respects-to-press-f/

Two things:

  • I was glad at the mention of the "Pay Your Respects" prompt in Arkham City. I can't remember if I played that game before the Call of Duty thing happened, but when I found it I couldn't believe my eyes. I found it to be so corny and laughable, a weak attempt to put some emotional weight in what was otherwise, to me, a really stupid game.

  • The number of people who sincerely think that "F" is an appropriate response to something tragic and serious happening is depressing. But I guess when I was much younger I was similarly stupid in different ways

"What a blessing it is to be remembered at all." That's a beautiful sentiment. The end of the article made me... wistful would be the word? Elegiac? A mix of joy and little sadness.

Good article but I'm gonna be a Nitpick Nelly here: there was, in fact, discourse generated by Shadow of Mordor using the main character's wife for the stealth kill tutorial. It might not have been as memed on but articles were written and pods were casted
