ometimes you’re a Sigurðr, where no matter what you do, Odin is going to be there to give you bunch of boons and advice and then take them all away when he’s done with you. Other times you’re a Hrafnkell, where your belief in the gods get you nothing but a useless oath you swore that spells your downfall. Thankfully, this is… a parable about the divine right of kings in a land with no kings? I guess? and so you’ll be able to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and get your revenge in the end.
Next week we’ll be back to discuss the first 23 chapters of Laxdæla saga! We're reading the translation by Keneva Kunz published in the very same Penguin Classics tome The Sagas of the Icelanders that we read for Hrafnkels saga Freysgoða.

P.S. Niamh is also going to be on VoIP Life, if you want to pay $10 to hear fem talk a little more.
We had a great single episode Saga in Around the Long Fire this week so if you’ve never checked out the show this is a great episode to hop in with! Hrafnkel’s truly a man for the ages.
