LOL maybe they got an algorithm that gets set off whenever you're not playing by the rules
No idea if faux-quote-post links show up on mastodon as a mention, but it's slightly worse than that: both algorithmic tags and search only show posts from the past 7 days (and search is also capped by post count), so even posting in a non-crowded topic does not guarantee that anyone will see your work.
