So without the ability to post videos, how are indies talking about their games here? With screenshots? Third party videos? (I've been using youtube)

I honestly haven't seen much of a gamedev/indiedev presence on this site at all, and as an indie dev, that's concerning to me. Maybe I'm missing them?

I also get the feeling that commercial/promotional use is generally discouraged here (as it seems to be on Mastodon) so I haven't really posted much. It's a good place for posting furry art though, I'll say.

I'm still looking for more gamedev interaction myself so i'll let you know when i find it

as far as promotional stuff, as far as i can tell you're good as long as you're not like some big corpo trying to make sell pepsi 2 or whatever

I think the best we can hope for is it being a judgment call, and we just have to be smarter than the people who think baristas are "bougie".

Still, it'd be nice to have some guidance from staff on where exactly the line is. Maybe for legal reasons they can't do that, but I learn best by reading about example cases that may tip a ruling one way or another.

It should surely be okay to promote your game dev so long as you're not spamming about it and it's appropriately tagged. It ought not to be terribly different from an artist promoting commissions or their patreon, or a crafty type linking to their Etsy store
