I saw the sentiment this week (which I can't seem to find an attribution for) that all social networks begin and end discussing themselves. First posts are the same.
I haven't posted on Twitter almost exactly 8 years though I still used the site daily. I primarily used Twitter as an information aggregator about hobbies and industries that I am interested in. I got a lot of joy seeing silly posts from people that I will not likely ever meet or directly communicate with. I also used the site as a primary information source for fast-changing events - I watched the Capital Insurrection happen live on the site when it was hard to find information on other platforms.
Based on using Cohost the last few weeks, I don't think I'll get the breaking news here. But I'm optimistic that the mood of Cohost I've seen seems to be more supportive and will encourage me to share. I'm likely to share things about my hobbies - biking, games, music - and occasionally comments about the tech industry at large. Probably won't talk too much about my job. That's for LinkedIn and I never use LinkedIn!
