I'm sorry for your loss. I feel like the loss of a pet can hurt more than a person dying. Our cat Gizmo died back in August of 2016 (she was 11 years old, and it happened without warning, just found her lifeless body under the table), and it devastated me. I cried harder than when my own father died, and he was the world to me. The wound is still open after so long, that I tear up listening to music, or watching movies even during parts that aren't super emotional.

Thanks.
I've decided to try and keep the post happy.
Of course I was bawling when sifting through pics and I could write angry walls of text, but if I do it will be in another post. Here I just want to post cute pics of a dog I loved and still do.
Thanks again for the kind words.
edit : And sorry about Gizmo, I'm sure she was great.

I don't count my pets ages anymore. I haven't in a long time. It's not an ideal strategy for coping with loss and loss-to-be, but I've done it for long enough I don't know how I would feel if I started paying attention to that stuff explicitly again.

I lost one of my cats Ash earlier this year, in March. The process of all that lead to the realization I don't have many years left with another of them. I'm still in denial about that.

Rest well Lucie, you were clearly well loved.

Thank you.
Throughout my life I've usually had pets individually. When I was born there were two cats, later after they were gone we adopted one cat who we had for 20 years then there was Lucie who we had for almost six years.
Given that I tend to think of my time with each of them as a different era.
There is a big difference in lifestyle with and without pets, especially with dogs.
edit : Sorry to hear about Ash too, and I hope you still get a lot of time with the other cat.

I had a dog named Rio its been about 7years since she left, it was a hard loss to say the least still miss her.

Lucie looks like she was a sweet heart.
What a cute and photogenic girl. She definitely deserves the spotlight.

Thanks.
Yeah, Lucie was very sweet and cute, to the point it somehow felt surreal that I was lucky enough to take care of such a nice dog. It's a strange thing to say I guess and doesn't reflect very well of my psyche. I was filled with so much love when walking her though.
Sorry about Rio. These pups can be such big parts of our lives when they are around.

That picture of her rolling in the grass has me tearing up. She was obviously a joyful, loved little dog and I can feel it through the photos you've shared. I'm glad you have those for your memories and you were clearly lucky to have each other.
