while things like sonic and star fox do end up making waves in the community it ends up being less about shifting how something's drawn in the grand scheme and more about people start to draw in that style detached from norms.
I don't think a full cultural change takes effect, like not every fox OC ends up looking like Tails, but we do end up seeing more Mobius-inspired characters overall due to the impact of the media.
I openly admit I cannot draw the following things without it being clear I came from the Sonic fandom and culturally contribute to this kind of thing:
- Hedgehogs
- Foxes (And candids in general honestly)
- Eyes
This is legitimately the kind of thing I'm genuinely curious about though. I'd love to somehow see more of a before and after various species 'cus I can think of a couple other things that absolutely caused shifts in "generally how things are drawn" in the same "not everything ends up like that but there are more" way. Lions come to mind with big 90s releases in the same vein, maybe even raccoons...
