before we're all separated like the splitting of pangaea and you all go off to different social media sites, remember:

  • you don't have to be angry and sad looking at social media all the time. there's only so much you can do as one person and the absorption of bad news into your psyche does nothing but make you despair

  • just because someone likes the same things as you or is in the same "fandom" doesn't automatically make them someone you'll get along with

  • ALSO if you don't have to be friends with someone just because they share your political beliefs! some people are just assholes and you don't have to waste your time on them!

  • you don't have to be friends with someone just because you're the same kind of marginalization!

  • you don't always have to share an opinion

  • you're better off finding a group of friends than trying to please everyone

Soooo over the weekend, I gave Spider-Man a watch. On Saturday, 2, then 3 on Sunday. Overall? These films were some good times. The first was a bit cheesy, but had some heart with a pretty wicked final battle scene you can feel the rawness of, topped off by an incredibly great, hammy performance by Willem Dafoe throughout its wildly edited runtime. 2 has the best overall narrative, being a well-rounded story with some great setpieces. Can't really knock much though I will say, one constant was I didn't find the MJ/Peter romance all that great. Just shrugged it for the most part.

Now, 3. 3 is a strange one. For the first half of the film I enjoyed it. It's not as great as its predecessor, but it had some genuinely fun moments. Though the last half was pretty slapdash. And reading up on its production, I wouldn't blame Raimi for deciding against directing superhero flicks for the next decade. It's such a shame since the movie is enjoyable, if a bit unintentionally funny with the whole Bully Maguire thing it had going on.

Spider-Man as a trilogy was overall fun. High highs, low lows, but it all manages to work.

This game is great, by the way. Figured as a buffer before Spooktober - which I'll happily talk about on Backloggd/other places given the unfortunate Cohost shutdown. But I figure I'd share at least a few more posts. Been rather quiet the last few days, but I'll say thanks to everyone who followed and for the many laughs the site's given me. I only knew y'all for a few months, but it sure felt like a year or two.
