The 6th gen fella

A farmboy crashes down from outta nowhere one day. Armed with a sword, shield, and Jim Hawkins haircut, Carter is joined by a strange creature known as Yooba who guides him through a fantasy land where humans and elves are in conflict. As an N64 throwback, the demo's captures the visuals and style well, taking cues like a jingle for opening chests and solving puzzles. Combat has a DMC template, but you aren't gonna be doing any crazy shit like jump cancelling Distorted Real Impacts. There's also a Homunculi that follows you around used for solving puzzles that need a gust of wind to be blown, wind blowing also helping in combat to keep baddies up in the air.

Of the only things worth critique is a lack of movement to chain together. You're given a somersault that's incredibly handy, but I wish you could chain it with jumps to help make movement more fluid. Locking on is awkward, I wish you could cycle targets to keep combat flow from being broken up by having to target one guy after another, but that's all she wrote for criticisms.

Overall, give this a shot. Haven't played many games this Nextfest, but this is a high recommendation for those looking for an N64 throwback game with some real charm to it.
