From my session earlier today - I snagged it! Even with the Thief's Cuffs, getting this little trinket for Basch proved to be a lot of effort. Many times did I have to reload Trial Mode. Unsure how much I'll be using Trial Mode to snag things, but it sure might come in handy since my characters have some significant progress on their license boards, so maybe I'll see what I can find in the early stages of TM and bring it over to my main save. That'll be fun!
