Welp, 49 episodes later, GaoGaiGar is a 10/10. I think at this point, it's gonna be drilled into my head as much as Symphogear was when I first saw that 4 years ago. There's something amazing about the pure optimism and energy sprouting outta Sunrise's masterclass of mecha. Masaki Endoh's earworm inducing opening, killer action, the way it shifts from monster of the week to a decent space opera. It's god tier stuff.

it's honestly quite incredible how GaoGaiGar never stops finding ways to one-up itself and build that hype train every single moment, especially later in the series. it always has some new and exciting answer to "how are they supposed to top this one".

and i really love how it feels like everything keeps seeing use past its introduction, except volfogg's little guys as independent units (they basically disappear as their own guys once it's Big Volfogg Hours, and they don't really get anything past that until FINAL) but like... outside of them i don't think there was ever a point where i thought "man what happened to the rest of the arsenal", and you really couldn't ask for any higher praise for the 'making you want all the cool toys together' end of the Cool Robot Experience

Exactly! There's something I adore about how each thing gets utilized in an episode instead of being in the background, I think that's what really contributes to GGG being great: Everything gets its own time to shine.
