Spawn's animated outing in 1997 was awesome, a stunning piece of adult animation that happens to be my favorite from that timeframe. Now imagine my surprise when watching a video on Æon Flux to find out that there was, in fact, another Image Comics series that got an animated adaptation two years prior. This brings me to The Maxx, an adult animated series that aired as part of MTV's Oddities. A 2 hour psychological romp about a homeless man and his social worker, the homeless man seeing himself torn between two worlds - the surreal Outback and the real world.

The use of live action, hints of CG, this show's extremely experimental and oozes with style throughout its 2hr runtime. As a piece of psychological intrigue, you might love it! If you're not into that stuff, it works just as well as a bizarre piece to sit back and watch. Really makes me want to seek out the comics and read 'em.
