Compared to its contemporaries, Sly 1 is fascinating. This tiptoe of past and present for its generation. One foot in hub areas with levels and different gameplay gimmicks, another stuck in lives and a one-hitpoint wonder character. That's not to say it's bad. No no, Sly 1 is a good title. When stacked up against Jak and Ratchet's first outings, it doesn't shine as bright, but what's here works. I'm eager as hell to dig into its successor, but Sly 1 made for a hell of a replay, and I got all the Thievius Raccoonus pages this time around!
