After a month and a half, I've finally completed Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. A game that, while rough around the edges, ends up being slightly better than its predecessor for how many QoL improvements are made. Bonfire Ascetics alone add a point to this game for me. Build diversity, the QoL improvements, making consumables useful, there's a lot Dark Souls 2 does right that balances what it does wrong. Even the DLC is phenomenally well thought out and has some of my favorite bosses in the game. Dark Souls 2 is a great game, and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

Going through Drangleic has been one hell of a trip. Starting off as a warrior, I ended up switching to a mage to dip my toes into the wonderful amounts of magic in this game. Switch to my catalyst to buff my sword in one hand while casting the various magics in the other. My final (so far) respec has been geared towards a weapon I've grown rather fond of, the Santier's Spear! As a first time player, seeing this thing after the many words I've heard spoken about it? It's like a dream come true once I buff it with Dark Weapon. The damage is simply jawdropping, shredding through bosses like hot freakin' butter! Like Icarus, I might fly into the sun with this build, who knows? But for now, the pure taste of power is extremely tantalizing.
