So. Bang Brave Bravern is one hell of an anime, huh? Every last droplet of its production oozes with pure passion for the genre. Stunning animation, a fun and engaging story, it's solid from start to finish. After finishing GaoGaiGar, I didn't think I'd be able to watch something close to its level of quality, but Bravern managed to be just as good!
2 episodes in. I don't even know where to begin. But it's an anime where you can tell everyone from the animators to the sound designers, even voice actors are having fun. And what better anime for me to be watching on Pride Month? Part of me is sad this is only 12 episodes, because goddamnit I'd be watching this all year 'round if I could.
Welp, 49 episodes later, GaoGaiGar is a 10/10. I think at this point, it's gonna be drilled into my head as much as Symphogear was when I first saw that 4 years ago. There's something amazing about the pure optimism and energy sprouting outta Sunrise's masterclass of mecha. Masaki Endoh's earworm inducing opening, killer action, the way it shifts from monster of the week to a decent space opera. It's god tier stuff.
Holy. Tapdancing. Christ. I thought Symphogear had immeasurable levels of hype, but GaoGaiGar absolutely equals, if not dwarfs it in terms of hype. Episodes 26 - 30 are some of the most exciting mecha episodes I've ever witnessed, it's so freaking peak.
