Got one of the 4 remaining achievements I didn't get back in 2021. This one was a doozy! Tacking on the fact I was playing on hard, Abe had to duck, jump, and stay still quite a bit to avoid being turned into bits. I've only got the bad ending to get, 99 Mudokons to kill, and a speedrun achievement before New 'n Tasty is under my belt. As much as this game could've used a dimming and a nerf to quicksave dependent on the sections, Oddworld: New 'n Tasty's a genuinely good time and I'm glad to be playing it as I'm still playing FF12. Gotta get some variety on the side!
After Abe-A-Gogo and its J-Pop commercial, what could be more late 90s than that? How about Eurodance with a hint of Abe? Yes, your eyes are working. The groups featured in this video are in fact green screened into Abe's Exoddus cutscene walking with the titular hero, who even provides some lyrics. I'm not exactly sure how much Oddworld content I'll yap on about, but I figure I'd point to some of the more amusing things to come from the series.
Abe-A-Gogo was Japan's localization of Oddworld, notorious for altering the design of the Mudokon Pop from a grizzly decapitated head on a stick due to a recent unfortunate event to a more friendlier alternative, also modifying Abe's fingers to 4 instead of 3, two changes that'd carry over to the west. Alongside these changes was this silly commercial, featuring... J-pop and a dancing Abe?! It's truly a treat to behold:
