just a bean trying to write games

novice game designer and tabletop podcaster. check out my wanderhome project on the 2’s company podcast! my games can be found at https://dayseyemay.itch.io/

I used to host a two player anthology actual play series using the game wanderhome, but a little over a year ago I hit a major creativity burnout and haven’t posted anything since.

I love the game of wanderhome and really want to get back into it. I have an idea to do some short solo fiction sessions, but the idea of recording again especially alone feels really daunting.

anyone have motivation tips to getting over the ridiculous feeling of talking to myself into a microphone or playing a game by yourself?

All I can say is that solo RP is fascinating to me, and fully a valid form of gaming. It's not something I can keep up myself (I find it mentally exhausting, it makes me realize how much I rely upon the energy boost of others at the table) but I would definitely be in the audience for watching someone do it.

I find that the energy of others really helps me too! even when it was just one other guest with me on the show it was super fun to have springboards for ideas. I think my main fascination with trying more solo play is as a chance to work on my own writing skills and see how they change over time!

wanderhome is such a lovely game I hope you get a chance to explore it too! I believe there is a link to the old RSS feed in my profile, but the show (2’s company) should also be on most pod platforms, if you do end up listening i hope you enjoy :)
