I've told my spouse several times that I genuinely think that fandom is replacing religion, for better or worse.
I think in this sort of case it's for better. A person who's really prone to this sort of conspiratorial thinking is sadly most likely going to keep seeking out imaginary hidden patterns and word games no matter what they're into. It's better for everyone if they direct that toward something ultimately harmless like movie fandom than joining Qanon. Even if Snyder fans do get really annoying sometimes.
