I should go back and finish that effortpost I started forever ago about The Outwaters. But also, to do that I should probably rewatch The Outwaters and a large part of that movie is just so unpleasant (intentionally and successfully, i should add) that I kind of don't want to put myself through the experience again.

usually i love found footage, the good the bad, the high quality and the low, but the outwaters was forgettable and unwatchable for me. it was less of a story and more a bunch of scenes happening. and while sometimes that tends to happen with found footage, is a bit inherent to the genre in some cases, the outwaters just felt like noise and gore :shrug:
I was riding between "feelin' it" and "definitely not feeling it" the whole time. The premise of the last half, i.e. unknowable horror being recorded by someone who is not in a state where they can even begin to comprehend it, really worked for me. But it totally lost me as it went on and they got to stuff like "oh the government was testing here" and "weird recreation of the dude's moms home and the plane."
