Nationalistic, looks like every other blockbuster, and arguably the best Godzilla film to date. Make no mistake, it was both a creative choice and takes a herculean effort to make a quality disaster epic. By refusing to innovate and hunkering down with the basics of spectacle, melodrama, & parable we have a great time in theaters to show for it.
