now I don't know much about baseball

but it seems like it would be strategically beneficial for a pitcher to have as broad a range of pitch velocities as possible so that they can switch it up to misle the batter

None of you think strategically

A single fireteam using small arms could easily eliminate the batter leaving no threat to the pitcher at all and obviating the need for special pitching tactics.

Liz and I use "misle" all the time and I love it. Also on the subject of neolinguistic infection, iirc your Twitter display name for a time was "honkus if you donkus" and without exaggeration that single phrase dramatically changed the course of the silly words we used with each other
