how feasible is a "if you use this license, make closed source software with it, and abandon the product, you must either open source the project you use it in, under a similar license."

because I'm really tired of things built on open source being destroyed even if the work could be learned from, all in the name of corporate secrets the CEOs talk to each other about over dinner.

its all such farce.

It's probably reasonable to execute as a license but we also know that corporate owned properties will be kept on the books forever just to keep anyone from doing things with them so there'd have to be some concrete definition of abandonment beyond "the owners say so"... I suspect it would get looked at the same way the GPL is anyway

From the "spent too much time thinking about open source licenses" part of my brain: It's effectively ~equivalent to an existing copyleft license on an (extendable) timer, right? I'd guess you have all the problems that, say, gpl or even agpl have with adoption, but sounds like it'd at least be osi osd compatible, if I had to guess.

From the "fed up with disappearing software" part of my brain: yeah that sounds really cool if you could get anyone to use it.
