Basically everyone I know who likes Masto either runs their own instance or has sway with someone who does. There are miserable cultural problems with the Fediverse as a whole that are grounded in the medium, something something Marshall McLuhan something, and no amount of denying it actually fixes anything

This has been my experience, I struggle to regularly check in on Mastodon but I know two different hosts and everyone who is regularly active in their instances is close to those hosts. Also, eighty percent of the people on those instances are inactive, including myself. 😅
