Fill me in, I'm always down to learn about socialist thinkers I don't know. What's the best you got?
McLuhan was a modern philosopher and a professor at the U of Toronto. He helped define media studies and the way predicted the way digital media would change the way that people would, by necessity, have to interact with the world. His most famous theorem is "The Medium is the Message", in that the way information is delivered has a direct effect on how it is received. The growing influence of television created a common experience that could, if used properly and responsibly, bring people together as a community. His theorizing about digital media could have been a warning regarding the effects of Internet propaganda and propagation of misinformation. His work had a direct influence on the Chicago Seven and western socialist movements and anti-government action in general
Fascinating. I don't know how I've never heard of him, but I'm going to look into some books.
