not a stock market expert but i do know a thing or three about tech and i gotta say. apple is so fucking overvalued it makes me belly laugh

genuinely out of all the tech companies that aren't Outright Scams, Apple is probably the least important by a good margin. Apple does not make important products. Apple software/hardware is not load-bearing.

if Apple ceased to exist and every piece of Apple hardware vanished from the face of the earth the second you scrolled past this post, it would be a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things. if the same happened with Microsoft and Windows PCs, it would have lasting consequences for human civilization. if Alphabet shut its doors tomorrow the world would be reeling in the void it left behind. there is no goddamn metric by which control over/investment in Apple Incorporated is worth a fraction of a similar share in Microsoft or Alphabet, save for investor stupidity.

i don’t know how overvalued it is, but imo i think it’s less overvalued than you think just because apple has managed to be both a tech company and a luxury goods company, both of which are the kinds of companies that get a lot of investment. just food for thought idk

i will begrudgingly admit that microsoft probably is actually worth around 2.5 trillion mainly based on the fact that they've got the world by the balls with Windows. whatever other junk they do is basically just gravy.

Frankly I would rate Office as more important to their control than Windows, even though it's easier to switch to Google Docs than Linux. It's absolutely shocking how much every single thing in the whole world depends on Excel.

But also part of the reason that Microsoft is a durable behemoth is because they've succeeded in spreading themselves around more than some of the competitors.
