The problem with free software/open source/whatever the fuck is that there's an obvious and clear ideological and practical justification - see Unity and Windows 11 and basically every other piece of commercial software or commercially-controlled software, viz. Chrome - but the big name fuckers behind it are all dipshits like rms who are just mad it's not them holding the big bag and so the actual meaningfully important part of people should be able to control their own shit, rather than being at the mercy of large capitalists is entirely contrary to what they want out of it.

I mean "politically motivated" but only in the incredibly narrow space of "I'm mad you need a license from AT&T to get Unix sources and I'm making an ideology out of it". He was never interested in meaningfully breaking capitalist power, just convincing capitalists that distributing source code along with binaries was the Obviously Correct Thing
