The research wasn't too bad, especially considering that The Cutting Room Floor basically does the research for me.

my man your entire video is literally recording yourself reading the article verbatim (sans a rare changed word or phrase) and snipping screenshots of everything from it

i don't want to go on a crusade against people like this but come the fuck on. you did literally zero work beyond reading words other people already wrote

i play their video side-by-side while i scroll through the wiki and highlight the shit they are reading off of in real time. you can even follow along!

also you get to see that he just outright stole other people's videos too and blurred the text on them so he could put his own shit on it. it's great!

The particular phrasing of "the research wasn't too bad" also raises an eyebrow. I thought people do this kind of stuff (whatever it may be) because the research is fun... At least, it's fun to me... The research is the point... "Wasn't too bad?" What does "bad" look like?

the research was too bad. i had to go to the second page of google results, and open one link on the wayback machine. dear viewers, i have suffered deeply for your entertainment. remember to subscribe, obliterate that like button, and hammer so hard on that bell that it breaks your mouse; really helps the channel out. with all that out of the way, let's get started.

webster's dictionary defines Luigi Mario as-

throwback to me watching another video essay by another guy on search for the original of the skull trumpet and it took the guy like 2/3thsway into the video to actually try to contact the youtube op (who is fairly notable and active on other sites)

lately it seems more and more of his videos are just "check out what I saw on the cutting room floor" like, to be fair he at least is up front that most of the discoveries come from there, but it's like it's just losing interest in trying to find stuff himself

I know for a fact he had a Mario Sunshine episode that was just TCRF regional differences, and more recently he had one about Kirby games (in general) that was the same, not sure how many others he's had now as I don't really watch his content anymore

it really just seems like he's going "I don't have a lot of time this week" and/or "I don't want to put the effort" so he just makes a video about a TCRF article and uses it as a chance to shoehorn his sponsor into the middle of the content without warning, which honestly just feels scummy to me for multiple reasons (and is part of why I dont watch him much anymore)

in reply to @xkeeper's post:

The bit that's burning my crumpets at the moment is where he cut the word "likely" from the TCRF text when copy-pasting it into his script. That's signalling speculation on the part of the author, and he's converted it into a confident assertion complete with conspiracy-theorist emphasis on "intentionally".

I also love how he says "Crazy Box" with the emphasis on "box" - that is, he's saying "crazy box" (a box that is crazy) rather than "Crazy Box", the object in Super Mario 64. Almost like he doesn't actually know Super Mario 64 all that well and is just making videos about it because he thinks they'll get attention.

Is it bad that I'd probably be up for listening to someone read and react to TCRF articles, if only it was actually labeled as such (idk, "Let's Read TCRF!")?
Voices can definitely make something feel nicer, but that doesn't require pretending you did original research.
