It seems like a bad thing that GPL-licensed software is being edged out by "permissively-licensed" software, with gcc vs clang being the main one I'm thinking of. Really looking forward to all sponsored development on it disappearing behind Apple's walls; the only reason that hasn't already happened is gcc continues to be the compiler of choice for a lot of things but how much longer will that pertain? What happens to Linux when Android abandons it for "permissively-licensed" Fuschia? And so on. Clouds on the horizon.
