I don't know what all to say here, never used the site much besides posting art and music, but it's been a fun experience regardless.

Originally came here as an alternative to Tumblr when it got more transphobic and implemented AI scraping shit or whatever, but I ended up adopting Cohost as a secondary platform alongside Tumblr as I eventually moved back for activity for friends and mutuals.

I hope you all still enjoy yourselves in whatever platforms you move to. If you wanna keep up with me and my stuff, you can find me on Tumblr (Art/Music/Rambles) and YouTube (Music, sorta art). I'll also maybe end up being a little more active on the Bluesky I made around the same time as my Cohost account and didn't use at all.

honestly not 100% sure what to write here. when i first signed up for cohost it was because i had seen a bit of buzz about it on twitter. i had heard you could use arbitrary css in posts, so i signed up because i really wanted to get in on that action. i joined, waited like 2 days to get access because that was the first big twitter wave, and then went ham on the css posting.

i didn't really post here a lot for a while. i think i mostly felt like i should be using this site for effortful posts, but i didn't have the energy to do that all the time. and then something clicked, i guess. i think i was just so ready to not use twitter, so i started using cohost as The Spot For Posting. i got more meaningful attention and (more importantly) conversation here than i ever would have there, anyway.

and then audio posting changed everything. the feature right as i was starting to feel like i was getting pretty good at this whole music thing. i really sort of kept it on the down low before, because i felt i was very novice and that no one would listen to it. but i started trying to gas myself up a little more, so i started occasionally posting some music here. eventually i posted a remix of that one phone call, and when that got a super positive reception (with multiple comments!!!!) i was like okay. posting music to this website hits different.

then compost started happening, and i already more or less vented about this in the final compendium. but tl;dr having that event upgraded cohost from "good place to post" to "an actual community" for me. of course, it's not like i'm the most prolific member of said community because i kind of suck at interacting with people online still, but it felt really nice to have a bunch of Cool Music Mutuals(tm) that i respected.

i also have Cool Non-Music Mutuals(tm) as well. that's such a weird thing to say for me because i'm still not that used to being an active participant on a social media site lol. i was gonna shout out some individually but i feel a bit weird about that since it's not like i was besties with anyone here. just assume that if we followed each other and have exchanged words i'm shouting you out individually. Keep In Touch. Have A Good Summer. Etc.

anyway, this post kinda sucks. i feel like my last words should be more climactic. but i kind of got my big feelings out in the compost compendium. it's just gonna suck not having this anymore. i don't feel free to post however i want anywhere else like i do here. i may post in a twitter like format most of the time, but having the versatility to post in any format i want is so freeing. not having comments or likes be public, in addition to the lack of numbers, really helped with pushing me to actually have some meaningful interaction instead of scrolling past every post. plus, the added tightness of having such a small site with people who are in it for the love of the game rather than the metrics was really the special sauce.

this isn't it for me, of course, but you probably already know that. ng, bsky, twitter, the works are all at https://glotch.net for your perusal.

i'll just leave you with this. it's a bit old at this point, but i feel like it's a fitting outro for my account.
