saw a mastodon post earlier about PC components with automation support built in for changing up your RGB settings
and while that's not something I have much interest in, it did make me think about vrchat's implementation of OSC - not just its use for face/eye/standalone full body tracking, but the potential weirder uses people have come up with; how any home automation targeting a smart lightbulb to provide a status notification could just as easily target an in-game parameter, or how it might provide more flexibility in e.g. scripting a parameter to change over time than can be got from trying to figure out something using a very complicated animation controller - or for streamers, how trivial it is to let chat control something about your avatar should you choose to give them the permission
it makes me wonder how many other games have had this kind of API for the game to be so easily controlled externally - the only official built-in one that comes to mind off the top of my head (beyond APIs limited to twitch only) is minecraft: education edition, although I know plenty of mods exist for lots of games
anyway i want to see examples of cool things people have done with OSC and other game APIs
