The CSS requirements are just too high. It's broken worse on old mobile safari, at least the page half loaded
the login page (and probably the rest of the site) also require ES modules which weren't added to Chrome by default until like 2015 (my old chromebook can't load the site because of this)
the fancy ??= operator keeps floating up as the latest thing that broke older browsers
