generally though, there are some... Problems with this, although i do appreciate it being offered as an option

i think a lot of problems stem from the PSP being designed for 16:9 - and as a handheld system, it's very aggressive on the culling. i haven't explored PPSSPP's other options to see if there's a way to reduce that but I don't remember e.g. Dolphin VR having these sort of issues when I tried it back in the days of the Rift CV1.

It also means a relatively low field of view and it feels like the sort of thing that'll need tweaking for each game - again, as opposed to Dolphin VR where I'm reasonably sure I could load up a lot of games and have a decent experience without additional tweaks.

Me & My Katamari in particular also does a lot of "putting things on the HUD layer that aren't actually HUD" and that's also a bit motion sickness inducing from the combination of things not working as they should when you tilt your head.

I also haven't checked if there's a way to hook up traditional controllers to the Quest 1 - the default mapping is weird, even if it's easy to change (e.g. the PSP's X button is mapped to the Quest's Right Trigger - which I'm sure makes sense for some FPS or other but less so for the rest of the library).
But also after getting used to the Index Knuckles... it's difficult going back to the Quest controllers in general, even for this use that has no tracked motion whatsoever without configuring that. (And that's even with thinking I need a palm extender to make the Index controllers more comfortable)

  1. Right now as far as I can tell PPSSPP VR is for Quest/Pico standalone only.
