and I'm thinking about what it means to us

(previously: our macro march post

as the other side of the same coin, micro was also an obsession long before our teenage years; dreams of things from different perspectives, tiny staircases built into bookshelves (or regular size staircases), homes inside of mouseholes, the whole fantastic voyage scenario despite only having seen parodies of it, snacks that can last a whole day - helped by games like tombi!/tomba! 2, toy story 2: buzz lightyear to the rescue 1, and later on, minish cap.

  1. i don't like that this is two longer posts in a row referencing disney's PS1 output, but eh, what can you do

during family trips to disneyland paris, there's a decent chance I'd do the combo of honey, i shrunk the audience, followed by a trip to buzz lightyear's pizza planet which was pretty much across from it 1

but i also feel like that history causes... a few disconnects.

we appreciate friends who are mainly here for maws, paws, peril, or the loss of agency for the ones that want to be someone's pet, and we'll do what we can to indulge as the larger party (or the medium party for micro compared to micro scenarios)
and we also appreciate friends that try to tease us in VR but it's just not what we're looking for as the smaller one, 99% of the time

we're here for the sense of exploration and adventure, more than anything else; regular things from different angles.
what sorts of photos of friends could i take as a literal shutterbug?
what would it be like to walk through the circuits of a computer, or to jump across the keys? to sit on the edge of the table as friends play pool and see how quickly i can dodge if a ball heads my way?

those are the sorts of things i think about more
perhaps even more so than macro is to us, it's more of a cozy comfort thing, and why it's a lot rarer for us to get commissions in that role? i don't know.

  1. buzz lightyear's pizza planet being a confusing combination of a bad version of the restaurant from the film (at regular human scale) plus a piece of andy's room (scaled like you're a toy) as a play area. from what i remember, it also had n64 demo stations and PCs with silly drawing apps in place of the film's arcades - but also the absolute lowest quality food of anywhere in the park, so i don't think many people missed it when it closed.
it was replaced (conceptually, not location wise) by the ratatouille themed restaurant chez rémy, which has far stronger theming throughout, apparently has much better food (at a price) and is absolutely my highest priority place to visit if i do ever go to disneyland paris again
