with the news that nintendo has submitted so many DMCAs in a last gasp attempt to protect tears of the kingdom - including not just tools to extract keys from a modded switch but also random copies of the keys accidentally left in other github uploads 1
i was reminded last night of DeCSS
how people would recirculate these "illegal numbers" by embedding them within images (or making modern art out of them meaning all you'd have to do was use the eye dropper to get the hex codes) or putting them on a t-shirt or embedding them within music
and i wonder if that sort of attitude will ever return
