Does anyone here use Obsidian?
If so, is it any good?
Are you preferring another note-taking app?
So, Obsidian is the first note taking app we really gelled with, one that works with the speed of our ADHD (have a thought, Cmd-O with the name of the topic, press enter to either go to that topic or create a new note - and if that reminds me of something else, quickly add a link to the new thing and create that).
it's where we journal, where we store thoughts about technical subjects, where we store concepts and commission ideas
with that said, it is not the easiest thing to get started with and be the most effective; it required a lot of independent research about the different ways people use it and unlearning old habits as we realized more of what works for us and what doesn't, and setting up templates to make that faster.
for example, we used to heavily want things to be in folders and subfolders
and now, we have a folder called "Concepts" and if we don't know which folder something should go in within 5 seconds of thinking about it (or if there are so many things on similar subjects that a new folder should be created), it goes in there
or how when we moved stuff over from apple notes, we had a big long note called "commission ideas" which we'd just keep adding to the bottom of; often zero explanation, just a link to a tweet
now every idea gets its own note, with source links or what caused us to have this idea saved as well, so i can very easily find "Kobolds carrying their tiny dragon around on a fancy pillow" again in future, along with artists I know would like to draw that topic
(i cannot say if these things will work for you, just they're what worked for us)
there is one situation where I would specifically recommend against Obsidian, and that's if you're primarily on mobile. It's great on desktop, it's passable on iPad (particularly with keyboard), but the mobile app is very much an "only if we need to look up information and have no other options" thing.
but because it just uses basic markdown files, on ios at least it's fairly easy to set up a shortcut to just save a markdown file somewhere obsidian can see it, so we never have to open it to enter data - i have to assume android would have something similar
