sometimes it's justified, but sometimes it gets applied to art where the character depicted is slimmer than we are IRL, and that always feels weird (and we're not particularly overweight!)

Yeah.
Maybe some artists are worried that their art has a blatant kink ~gaze~ to it? Maybe some are worried about getting hounded for CWs? But it's, like,
CWing for "fetishistic in a way that many fat people won't appreciate" is one thing, but some of the CW use I've seen is hm.
Yeah I know the gaze is in the eye of the beholder but some of these are literally the furry equivalent of that stock image of Homer Simpson waving
yyyyeah, if it's not a kink thing, bodies like ours aren't something to put behind content warnings
