hit by some thoughts about bluesky
for months before mostly leaving twitter, we recognized that we were spending too much time on it
and so, we deleted it from our phone, disabled all notifications on other devices, and would only intermittently check in on desktop. the mac app stopped being updated shortly before elon took over 1, so it was like having some part preserved in amber
bluesky is the closest most direct replacement for twitter
(at least, until federation brings it closer to the fediverse in complexity. if that ever happens.)
but that statement is a double edged sword.
for many, an easy drop in replacement
for us, a place we already bounced from but now with an experience of using it that feels more 2012 than 2022; it's the bargain basement/Poundland version, the absolute most minimum viable product frontend 2
i'll crosspost to it sure, in a way that we no longer will for β 3. we did post about the yinglet model there when we didn't here for a few days so as not to spoil the surprise for someone that i know is only on here and mastodon.
but we only read a couple of posts on the timeline before we close the tab; it's not a place we want to be
we haven't even bothered getting π an account even though i've got the invite codes for it, because with the state of the rest of the interface, we have to assume it doesn't support the feature we really need from social media of swapping accounts or pages when RTing something
and this is without even things like how everything is seemingly private (if linking to the official app and it not letting you see things without the account) but actually everything is public with any third party app. a protocol level decision that you'll never be able to lock down your AD or vent account.

(i hope all the people who were working on it found better people to work for)

WHY IS THERE STILL NO ABILITY TO DRAG AND DROP.
-
as a sign of how much i'm not using it, β hasn't even got the yinglet avatar
