so, after writing that Q4 sub-review yesterday, the thought of the library wanted to make me want to document some other places
the main metaphor we've used for years is the bridge of a starship, the TNG-era Enterprise usually being the go to example. two captains chairs, but rarely present at the same time, clones of us at the workstations. there's an alarm at the executive function station the me there has never figured out how to turn off
we remember reading about this metaphor in a non-fiction book as a teen and the imagery just stuck, but neither of us remember what the book was
behind a few locked doors from there is the cage, storage for a third headmate that's only let out under careful supervision
also accessible from the bridge is the terminal, an ancient computer system requiring me and π to both turn a key to take an action that could damage the system as a whole (which are, being honest, usually the result of my anxieties)
a few floors below all this is the library, a vast place with some of those sliding ladders, where ideas very frequently get lost - even if we're trying to be better about catching them with a net and putting them into obsidian (where at least they have a better chance of resurfacing in search when next needed)
and of course, sometimes the brain just doesn't have the gpu grunt for generating any of this, and so, featureless white void it is for a meeting
