today's website improvements:
- tweaked the speech bubble spacing to be a lot more compact. may still need some tweaking.
- added the ability for any page to have an arbitrary background defined in the yaml front matter and make it transparent. in this case:
- created this page on gender
this does raise the question of audience again, i suppose. we don't want to go too heavy on some explanations here (the plural page will probably need more out of necessity). this is fine for people linked to the site from here/other social media or people who got curious about the domain in my bluesky username - people who either know us or are in the orbit of people that do.
however, if this is going to be our (semi-)professional identity... are we going to switch over e.g. the email address on our CV to use this?
like, it'd potentially give a better chance of showing off projects and other things
but do we want to be in a situation in an already stressful interview where we're having to explain the contexts for where we like being addressed as Mt.?
π: but equally, do we want another job where we're scared of revealing anything about ourselves at work? we're at a stage in our career now where we can tell people to fuck off if they're not going to accept us.
once we've got the content up and running, we could set up something that locks it down; that hides half the links at the push of a button - but you can't live in fear of someone seeing your cards if you've already laid them on the table.
a lot to think about.
