prev: Q4, part 1
it's interesting how one quarter can turn things around
from the doodles of yinglet month, to setting up our new website basically from scratch 1, to reflecting back on shared histories with so many friends to try and write heartfelt and/or flirty messages in cards
the year's theme was creativity in general, and i think we've been hung up on not doing the right kind of creativity
why are we journalling when we could be doing something in unity?
why are we doing something in unity when we could be doodling?
why are we doodling when we could be coding?
etc.
it is fair to say that sometimes that's resulted in decision paralysis
but also looking back over the past year we've done what we needed to do when we needed to do it
it makes sense that model work would be the focus before both furalitys, for example
we still do get stuck on passive consumption.
part of the yearly theme next year is going to have to be addressing that; to cut down on junk media (or at least to be better about having it on in the background while doing something else).
but some time that we thought of as non-productive also led to better things
(would we have made the new website without making CSS powered shitposts throughout the year, reminding us that we can still use CSS?)
so yeah, for a year of creativity, we'd call that a success, even if we just didn't always recognize it throughout it
