welp, time for the rite of passage as a valve index owner of trying to replace the cable. have submitted a support ticket, but given the age of this index and that we're not the original owner, i'm not sure of the chances even if we offer to pay for it
on the one hand, i'm thankful we have the quest 1 as a backup, that it still functions in virtual desktop
but also ouch, severe headache after 1 hour of wirelessly streaming from PC with it.
brain has apparently got very used to the Index in the past 10 months.
along with mic issues.
along with it feeling so wrong to go back to the quest controllers 1
and while virtual desktop works for now... the quest 1 has been deprecated at the SDK level. i don't know how long it'll keep working for. how long facebook will keep the barely functional store 2 up on there
i feel like we probably need to at least have a newer backup even if the index cable is replaced, even if we were also trying to avoid buying another headset until future ones come out

we know we can use index knuckles with a hacky workaround in OVR advanced settings but also that's a lot of hassle at 5am

prompted to update virtual desktop on starting it from the quick launcher. sure, fine. but then try to go to the store to check status, and it seems like there's no overview page of pending updates, unlike literally every other digital store front i can think of? the information only seems present in notifications and for the individual app in the app library
