finished a replay of sam & max save the world/season one via the remaster, in anticipation for the remaster of The Devil's Playhouse

a good source of comfort to come back to, and it's nice to see the iterative evolution the episodic format allowed in terms of complexity with more back and forth, and less allowing you to skip context if you're following a walkthrough or remembering a puzzle

i don't own the remaster of season 2 on PC, so what i might do is replay some of telltale's other games - specifically SBCG4AP and wallace & gromit - since i assume there'll be a sale on the S2 remaster when skunkape is ready to release TDP

so, decided to move onto wallace & gromit's grand adventures, figuring that it had controller support, and so would be less painful on steamdeck than strong bad being mouse only

problem 1: i didn't actually own wallace & gromit on steam - because back in 2009, i thought telltale's web store was the place to buy them, since they'd just send you a DVD at the end of the series.
worried briefly about trying to use DVD on STEAMDECK, but thankfully indiegala was selling a steam key for the whole series for Β£1.70

problem 2: it had controller support on console. for whatever reason, the telltale of 2009 did not enable controller support on the PC side. and neo-telltale isn't going to do anything to fix their remaining licensed library up. thankfully there's a community config that mostly makes it function like the 360 version, aside from some awkwardness about using things from the inventory

problem 3: there are a few aspects that i don't think really worked properly in this replay of episode 1 and that memory is telling me remain a problem throughout the other episodes.
the hotspot implementation is awkward and makes it very easy to click on the wrong thing.
there are a few bits of important items hidden within seemingly decorative objects.
and gromit's status as silent protagonist means that he can't really hint towards whatever you should be clicking on instead.

from what i remember, there's one gromit part of episode 3 i got stuck on for hours during the original playthrough because it turned out that there was just an incredibly difficult to hit hotspot, and no human characters in the scene to give a hint. we'll see how long i get stuck at that point in these replays when i get to it
