we know many skunks
(and other critters who can very easily be convinced to be skunks)
and yet
our diminished sense of smell means we can never fully appreciate them the way other friends can
a hint of mint, a bit of strawberry, maybe
but the full complexity of the tail they tell will remain a mystery
