a friend came to me tonight venting about the palworld discourse on twitter 1 . that friend said they felt the need to stay on top of the discourse to know how the situation resolves
and i want to be 100% clear here: you do not need to do that.
it's a video game. you can just mute any mention of it. the world will keep turning. life will go on.
should any legal action be taken, there will still be other avenues that can be heard about through.
(should any legal action be taken, it will take years to resolve)
be free.
unless it is part of your job, you do not need to give the discourse the attention.
you do not need to have a horse in this race - or at the very least, do not need to gamble your happiness on everyone else's arguments over their bets.
spend your limited time doing something that nourishes your soul.
read a book. play a game. take one thing perpetually delayed off the tasklist. tend your garden. listen to some music. turn off all retweets so you only see friends when you open twitter. feed a non-discourse related hyperfixation.

being blunt from the bits that they've provided, it made me feel very glad to be largely off twitter and not too present on bluesky either, because it seems a whole lot worse than the takes i've seen here
