HEY GUYS ANYONE NEED FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FUCKING-ONE PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF UBLOCK ORIGIN???? CHROME HAS YOU COVERED

yes, my chrome folder is somehow using thirty fucking gigabytes of disk space (more than my fucking downloads folder by a wide margin) and a solid sixth of that are previous versions of ublock origin dating back to august 30.

thanks chrome.

@xkeeper

continuing my "where the FUCK did all my space go" adventures, oh look, it's another chromium-based electron piece of shit doing inane, inexcusable things

no fucking wonder all my space vanishes when every few days some garbage piece of shit """"application"""" decides "hmm, you know what? i feel like shitting out a 170 megabyte turd today for no reason."

i want to fucking strangle every single idiotic app developer that does this

in reply to @xkeeper's post:

i have been doing this since i got computers. it isn't difficult, for me.

my record uptime was my previous desktop pc, which stayed online and usable for just over two years (when i decided it was finally time for it to have a rest). it was light-duty and mostly running an irc bot, but i used it for streaming/games sometimes.

computers generally work fine if you let them run and stop them from doing stupid things like automated updates. the only time i end up rebooting typically are when something's super fucked (my current desktop's graphics drivers ate shit) or when i need to do actual physical maintenance on them. it keeps everything where it is, all my programs stay where they were, with what i was working on still loaded.

here's a live image from one of my servers:

"1920 days" is 5 1/4 years... and counting.

everything but that server i have is windows, mind. the linux one is just 2x my best, so

but even in windows 98 days i was reliably hitting the month of uptime mark. when xp rolled around i got to a year multiple times

in reply to @xkeeper's post:

i'm in windirstat for the same reason, because i deleted several gigs of shit last night when i hit zero, woke up, tried to take a screenshot in sharex, and got an error

literally refreshing the disk listing in explorer and watching it tick down point by point with no explanation led to me doing this

of fucking course the biggest culprits were chrome and chrome related garbage.
