I've always used the latter, matching my pronunciation of centaur, which I just discovered is not standard in English (all the pronunciation guides I'm finding use "tor") but is a somewhat closer match for Greek?
first one, pretty much. i've always said "tore" (toar? tor?) cause i pronounce centaur as "sen-tore"
My southern accent makes it "tar," or maybe "tawhr" if it's emphasized.
I say it kinda like tour but with uh... more jaw projection? Like there's half an "a" between the T and O?
