WAH i totally forgot to answer this i promise it's a really good question
scaling relative proportions as if the non-plushie character is human-sized...
- the plushie is smaller than a plushie would normally be (keychain or phone charm, or smaller) : awww. precious. great as a decoration, presumably a blushy squirmy one helpless to free itself. but points must be deducted because the classical plushie interaction, cuddling, is so difficult.
- the plushie is the size a plushie would normally be (beanie baby, teddy bear) : the classic! meets thresholds for cuddleability while maximizing manhandleability. a good demeaning size to be.
- the plushie is larger than most plushies but noticeably smaller than the non-plushie : a great sweet spot. still small enough to be picked up and tossed around with no effort, small enough to not really be on equal footing with the person and need help with tasks, but big enough for cuddles and hugs to have a lot of squish and impact. i am of course a big advocate for the four foot nothing height range in all contexts, cf. my sona. and a sufficiently rowdy and impish plushie of this height should not be counted out as a potential dom.
- the plushie is about the same size as the non-plushie : this is where the plushie starts to get some extra splendor and gravitas, since real plushies at this size are so rare and excellent. it also stops becoming so much of a reversal for the plushie to take a dominant role - at this size they're close to equal footing, although the plushie is still probably lighter and less able to exert force. hard to predict, though!
- the plushie is noticeably larger than the non-plushie : cuddle potential off the charts. great size for a sleepy, easygoing plushie with a very nappable tummy. it is becoming increasingly hard to get this plushie to do something it doesn't want to do. living wearable suits are of course a slightly distinct thing but a very fun cousin of living plushies i'd like to shout out here, and i think they're best at a slightly larger-than-life size so you get that extra interior stuffing to really squish ya.
- plushie is to non-plushie as human is to a typical plushie : AWOOGA. i love an ironic reversal. great size and material composition for a pred you can take a cozy, refreshing nap inside, of course. perfect size for a plushie that wants to treat you as the toy instead. perfect size to use as a big, luxurious mattress. a sweet spot for many scenarios.
- plushie is bigger even than that : once you pass the final pit stop of "plushie paw is the size of your whole you. wowie" it begins to hit the size difference threshold where it's hard to interact with each other again. still very cool and surreal, though.
