this post is the reason why with every forza horizon game the first thing i do is put a few hours into driving all roads for that achievement, getting as many cheap fast travel boards as possible in the process, at least then when i'm in a mood to do events the interruptions are minimal beyond the mandatory ones
(and if you want to get really annoyed by the mandatory ones, try the super 7)

saying that, neither multiplayer experience is ideal on linux;
forza did work on desktop but has stopped doing so and displays "oops, can't connect to multiplayer" messages in the open world every few minutes until you tell it to stop trying, and if you try and join a flatout 2 lobby from a steamdeck while another player is on a steamdeck, it apparently helpfully kicks the other one out
