shit, that gemstone metaphor is striking some chords with me as well.

the one who was beaten down by all the hells they've been through.
the one who swore to never let another soul go through it all again.
the one who died a little for every microcosm of hell they were powerless to stop, leading to the encroaching indifference to it all.
and the one to carve their pocket of sanity amidst the sea of madness, a bright bastion against things to come.

there are others, sure. moons and satelites to our greater celestial bodies or something like that. i pray there is still room for the lattermost facet to flourish. i almost always dread when they start to falter. so many projects abandoned, words left unsaid, opportunities missed, books unfinished. i don't want to go quiet again. not this time.
