if there is anything i hate about markdown it is the requirement for single line breaks to have two spaces at the end

my markdown writing/personal knowledge management app does not do this and it is so much nicer for it

there is a cadence to posting an Ebb a Flow almost poetry the meter is a mystery the rhymes are not there but nothing kills the vibe faster than double checking those double spaces on every line

i see friends attempting to lyricspost without previewing or maybe not caring enough to fix it does not work when compressed onto one line

and nor does this

The original concept was that Markdown should be usable without automatic word wrapping in the editor, that you can just break lines yourself and not have it impact the output. This makes sense for a format that’s designed to be stored and used independently of output, as the inventor uses it. (He stores Markdown versions of all his writing and considers it the canonical version of his work, he just re-runs it through the convertor if necessary.) I think it’s been wrong since the beginning for use in ephemeral in-browser editors that always have auto-word-wrap, which is by far the most common usage of Markdown today. Nobody but John Gruber is John Gruber.
